Blogapalooza in Aix-En-Provence

Whew, that was a whirlwind week full of amazing adventures, fantastic news, and I got to meet some great new people at the first ever French Blogapalooza in Aix-En-Provence.

Thank you, thank you, thank you Aidan over at conjugating irregular verbs blogspot!! And, darn you, you said everything I wanted to say and now I don't know what to write! You hit the nail right on the head when you said it was like meeting up with pen pals. Absolutely. I felt as though I already knew many of you as I have been reading your blogs for weeks and months now. I knew you would all be fun, awesome, and interesting, and it was.

The restaurant was a prefect choice, the food was great. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Sara Louise's husband, Monsieur du Petit Village, consume 4, yup count em' 4, platters of beef carpacio. Although I must admit I was a little disappointed not have seen him beat his record of 7.

Tales of close encounters of the French kind flew back and forth across our rather large table in American, British, Aussie, and French accents. Uproarious laughter ensued as we shared our silly and numerous French faux pas. My favorite story of the day came from Piglet who explained how she had inadvertently locked her eight-month pregnant self in her beaux-parents bathroom and attempted to climb out the bathroom window in her bathrobe. She literally had us in tears. My very own Great Escape, read all about it.

Keith, next time you need to come along! We missed you and your ears must have been burning, because, boy, did we talk a lot about you ... bien sur all of it good.

So nice to meet you Tanya, Kirsty, B, Aidan, Sara Louise, and Piglet again. Look out Sara Louise cause I am coming to inspect your Nazi Ghost Zombies

Oh, and Aidan ... coming to check out your Cathar ghosts. I don't want to scare you, but you are in the thick of a very haunted area of France ....

Bon! Gros bisous de new friends -- hooray! -- et a demain.

Love, Charley

P.s. we need to do that again soon. Let's move north next time and get some more bloggers in on it.

  5. Charley - would love to have been there myself! Next time give me a month's notice and I'll drag myself and Mrs A Taste of Garlic down for a little holiday!

Of course, if I'd been there I'd have not been so interested in Monsieur du Petit Village munching his 4 platters of beef carpacio but in Piglet spreading Tomato Ketchup on her Moules!

    All the best

    Keith

P.S. If anyone is in her neighbourhood, cold they ask the mad Aussie (B) to get her arse in gear and do her post so that I can do a special Blogapalooza Awards Ceremony!

  6. Keith - Mad Aussie has delivered.
It's not award winning, but it's done. And you'll definitely have to come down for the next catch up - we even discussed going on a lingerie and Citroen hunt just for you!

Charley - super write-up, and it was wonderful meeting you and your kids.
    Bisous

@ Piglet, yes we need to maybe do it in the fall, further north and scoop up some northern bloggers.

  8. Great photo of Le Petit Husband. I am craving carpaccio after all the photos and talk of it.
It was a great day that's for sure. And yes, let's move it up north when it gets hotted up and ghostly scary down south.
    I'm in.
